I have problems to access to the Ping-O-Matic website since some days. I have not been able to access to it today, so I created my own.

If I have problems accessing the service, it is probably the same thing for my readers. So I decided give access to the ping service to my readers to try to accommodate them. This is a test that I am doing, and it is currently under construction. I have implemented a list of 14 services to ping for the first version.

Here his where you can have access to the service:

http://fgiasson.com/pings/ping.php

How it works?

  1. You enter the title of your blog in the title field
  2. You enter the URL of your blog in the URL field
  3. You check the services you want to ping
  4. You press the “Ping” button and wait until the ping results page appear

Ease no? Yup, it is exactly the same thing as Ping-O-Matic.

I also added a cool little feature to bookmark your settings. So when you will need to re-ping the same services with the same blog title and URL, you will only have to click on your previously created bookmark, and then click “Ping”.

How it works?

  1. When you finished setting your settings, click on the “star” where it is wrote “Generate the bookmark for these settings”
  2. You will be redirected to a new page
  3. Go at the bottom of that page and click on the “Bookmark these settings” link
  4. Then you only have to click on this bookmark to have access to these settings

I hope you will enjoy using this service. If you find some bugs or have some suggestions to improve the service, send me an email. If you want to talk about the service, go on.

  1. Thank you. I’ll link to this from my blog.

  2. Thanks for the heads up! Ping o matic has been down a number of times the last few weeks.

    Todd

  3. Thank you all for your kind word.

I am glad to see that it will be useful to somebody ๐Ÿ™‚

It is not perfect, but do notforget to contact me if you find a bug or have a suggestion to improve the service.

    Saluations,

    Fred

  4. Fred, great job!

It works quite well…you are too, too humble. Thanks for providing it : )

  5. Hello Cary!

Thank for your kind words and for your post about the service ๐Ÿ™‚

Check it back soon (in the next weeks), because Sudar is working on an improvement with Ajax (to let you know when the system had finished to ping a service, then you will not have to wait until the system had finished will all the pings to see the results).

    Take care Cary,

    Salutations,

    Fred

  6. You should also check out a software tool called Blog Blaster http://www.dummysoftware.com/blogblaster.html, which pings as many blogs as you have over to 30+ sites. Saves a lot of time and agony.

I’ve started using it instead of Pingomatic.

  7. Hello Chris,

    Thank for the reference.

    However there are two problems:

1- It is a stand alone software.
2- It cost a great deal of money considering what it does.

I wished to use something simple, reliable (I host it), without the need of a standalone software, and finally I wished to give access to it to my readers.

    Fred

  8. Your King Ping is exactly what I need for my second weblog. It is faster than Pingomatic and it retains the settings so I don’t have to reset Pingomatic.

I will be using it from now on and will mention it on my weblog.

    Thanks!

  9. Hello Mr. St Lawrence,

I am glad to see that it is exactly what you were looking for. I did not receive any false comments for the moment, but there is always place for improvement. Sudar is working on something great, however if you have a feature idea, leave me an email and I will check what I can do. Do not forget that developed this service an afternoon that ping-o-matic was down, so it is really not perfect ๐Ÿ˜‰

  10. Thank you for doing this Fred. It is another item well worth adding to my arsenal of resources.

On the name: this may be silly, but I think Fred’s Ping Service is perfect. You see, when I was a little girl, whenever we got a new pet or I got a new doll (even the girl ones), my dad would always suggest we call it Fred.

So, for me, the simple naming brands it with warm, friendly personality. Of course, the consensus will out, but I wouldn’t change it.

  11. Hello Mrs. Heywood,

You are welcome. The service will be upgraded in about a week. Sudar is finishing an upgrade for the ping result page. When he will have finished that upgrade, I will incorporate it into the current version, change some things and the new version will be up. I received a beta version from him and the result is really impressive. The functionalities will be the same, but it will be much more interesting to use ๐Ÿ™‚

I love your little story, thank for sharing it. However you are not the first person to tell me that, and each time I read this I always think back of On Writing Well by William Zinsser. It is sure that it is interesting; however I will keep my personality in the writings of my blog and change the name of the service ๐Ÿ™‚

I will also register an ease to remember domain name for the upgraded version. I never expected this but people seem to like it, are enthusiasts about it and need to participate to the experience. It is a really interesting experience!

Thank for your comment, it is always really appreciated to have such feedbacks,

    Salutations,

    Fred

  12. Perhaps a silly question but…

My blog script/software (WordPress) will automatically ping sites that I have listed each time I enter a new post. Is there an address for this site that I can add to the script so it will automatically ping you as well? I’m not much for coming here and “doing it manually”, if ya know what I mean.

    Thanks!

  13. Hello,

Unfortunately, I do not offer that service for now. The main problem is that I do not have enough bandwidth on that server for such a service. However, I will probably open a donation system for that service, with the next version that is coming in the next days. Then, if I have enough resources to open it on another server, I will probably open such a service. For now, you can always use the one of pinomatic. http://rpc.pingomatic.com/

  14. WOW I”M IMPRESSED — totally awesome THANKS SO MUCH

  15. Hi Fred,

How does one go about getting a ping site added to your service? I work
on a ping site for podcasters to ping but it’s not well-known yet.

  16. Hi,

You only have to contact me by email ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Hi,

I was desparate to find an alternative to pingomatic.com and man, i am so glad to find you.

Thanks for your excellent service and I’ll send the word out about you as much as possible.

    Thanks,

  18. Great creation! Bookmarked and will use many times!

  19. Thanks. I like the asynchronous nature. I did receive some errors back, which could be due to a number of issues. Submission services may be down, etc. What timeout interval do you set, before reporting that a server did not respond?

  20. Hi Mr. Hayward,

Sudar is currently re-building King Ping. So in a month 9or couple of months) all these little things will be fixed and major improvements will be implemented. So keep a eye on kping.com to see it comming!

Thanks for your interest in King Ping.

    Salutations,

    Fred
